Barcelona
as you've never seen it before
An
unforgettable experience to discover a new way to understand the city
Mirador
Torre Glòries is a new kind of observatory that allows us to experience
Barcelona from a new perspective: to perceive the heartbeat of the city
that affects our daily lives and of which we are often unaware. Like a new form
of telescope and microscope, it reveals to us our non-human neighbors, the
daily dance of all its systems and infrastructures, and the celestial bodies
and satellites that cross its sky. A surprising way of presenting the
city as an interwoven network of natural, social, and technological forces. To
discover Barcelona with new eyes.
The world
is moving forward, and with it, our way of thinking. In the 21st century, we
are heading toward a new idea of our place in the world: a place where “our
world” coexists with that of others, where humanity is no longer the center of
the universe.
Barcelona,
like all major metropolises, is changing. As the era of fossil fuels comes to
an end and we seek a new balance with nature, we have begun to dream of
a new Barcelona — greener, friendlier, driven by sustainable energy and
intelligent technologies. A new city where we are also aware that
humans do not live alone.
Mirador
Torre Glòries offers a journey through three exceptional perspectives on
Barcelona:
How will
your visit be?
The visit
begins with Hyper-Mirador Barcelona, on floor –1. Here we discover
a different kind of observatory — a vision platform that reads and amplifies
the city’s pulse, allowing us to observe Barcelona beyond the city we
see at first glance, to understand it as a living organism whose heartbeat
strongly impacts our way of inhabiting it.
We live in
an ecosystem where systems, infrastructures, and technologies intersect —
things we depend on for life, and whose sustainability depends on how we use
them. Using big data instruments that collect information from
urban systems, and through spectacular installations combining art, music,
technology, and large-scale audiovisual productions, the city’s pulse
is taken, revealing Barcelona as a living organism inhabited by both human and
non-human neighbors.
After
this first stage, the visit continues on the 30th floor, 125 meters above
ground, where the Mirador is located, offering a 360° panoramic view of the
city, at the center of Barcelona envisioned by Ildefons Cerdà. From here, you can see
Montjuïc Mountain, the Mediterranean Sea, the Sagrada Família, and the 22@
district, among others.
The highest
point of Torre Glòries is crowned by a spectacular artwork by Tomás
Saraceno. Cloud Cities Barcelona is a large-scale walkable
sculpture, suspended inside the dome and built from a network of tensioned
cables. The installation allows visitors to move through its interior, as if
flying over the city at 130 meters high. It’s a cloud-inspired experience that
pushes the limits of our comfort zone and invites reflection on the
interdependence and interconnection among all living beings. A unique
experience to conclude this journey and discover Barcelona from the very heart
of the city.
